Our history

Craftsmanship has always been present in our lives, although the path to discovering it was unexpected. Eduardo was born in the Dominican Republic, into a family where manual labor and attention to detail were part of everyday life. My father made bespoke suits with impeccable precision, while my mother created wedding dresses, women's clothing, and bed linens. However, my destiny seemed to lie far from sewing.

From a young age, I was fascinated by the world of mechanics, so I learned to operate lathes and milling machines in various workshops. Later, I graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from UASD, which allowed me to develop a precise and technical understanding of the manufacturing process.

Upon arriving in Spain, my career took an unexpected turn when I became the manager of the La Manual Alpargatera workshop, a leading name in artisanal footwear production. Working so closely with the artisans led me to discover a new passion: shoe design and manufacturing.

Vidalma was born in the Dominican Republic and studied accounting at UNAPEC.

But I didn't build this story alone. Together with my wife, Vidalma, with whom I share a love for tradition and a dedication to quality craftsmanship, we decided to create our own brand: "Vidalma fet a mà" (Handmade Vidalma). Our workshop in Sabadell is where we bring each pair of avarcas to life, reviving the artisanal essence that has been lost with the industrialization of footwear.

For us, each avarca is more than just a shoe: it's a symbol of tradition, sustainability, and authenticity. We believe in the value of handcrafted work, the quality of the materials, and the story behind each piece. In a world dominated by mass production, we champion true craftsmanship, the kind passed down through generations, where every stitch carries the soul of its creator.

The Firm
